Zoe Woods is set to expand her national motorsport resume this weekend after receiving a memorable birthday surprise confirming her entry into the Mustang Cup Australia season finale. According to Speedcafe reports, stalwart squad GWR Australia will field a two-car lineup at Sandown Raceway, pairing her alongside Ben Kavich in a brand-new Mustang Dark Horse R chassis.
The 23-year-old racer previously sampled the machine during a private test session at Queensland Raceway earlier in the year. Having stepped away from GT4 Australia commitments to prioritize family business operations within TekworkX Motorsport, the sudden opportunity to return to competitive driving came as an unexpected family gift.
"I'm definitely looking forward to my first Mustang Cup Australia race at Sandown this weekend," Woods shared regarding her highly anticipated category debut. "I was actually told by the family on my birthday that this had been arranged, so that was really cool to hear that it was all locked in."

Her initial on-track impressions of the American muscle car proved overwhelmingly positive during testing. Combined with her admiration for the historic Melbourne circuit's layout, confidence remains high heading into the final weekend of the Shannons SpeedSeries calendar.
"My first impression of driving the Mustang in testing was overwhelmingly positive, and I love the Sandown circuit – it is one of my favourites – so I can’t wait to get out there competitively," she noted. Operational focus remains clear as the rookie aims to maximize track time and technical progression.
"Our main objective at Sandown is to keep it clean and, above all, have fun. Driving a brand-new Mustang chassis will feel phenomenal and I can’t wait to press on with GWR and learn as much as I can throughout the weekend," Woods added, highlighting long-standing family ties with team management.
For GWR, accelerating their multi-car expansion plan serves as a major milestone heading into the 2027 competitive horizon. Team principal Garth Walden expressed strong enthusiasm over locking in the roster addition for the final round.
"It's great for GWR to have two Mustangs locked in for the final round," Walden stated. "Having enjoyed our first outing with Mustang Cup Australia at Sydney, our goal was to run multiple cars in 2027, so to have Zoe onboard with the team for the last round is a real coup.">
Highlighting her proven capabilities across domestic GT categories, Walden expects strong performances straight out of the box as the championship concludes with Josh Anderson holding a 44-point lead over Joe Fawcett.
