Johann Zarco is set to make his MotoGP return earlier than expected at next weekend's Aragon round, provided he passes the mandatory medical examination.
The Frenchman has been absent since suffering serious knee ligament injuries in a Turn 1 pile-up during the restarted Catalunya MotoGP in May. Initially, his comeback was targeted for LCR's home race at Misano in mid-September. However, his recovery has progressed remarkably in recent weeks, allowing him to accelerate his return.
In a team statement, LCR confirmed that Zarco has gradually increased his training load, including riding a supermoto and a Honda CBR1000RR as part of his rehabilitation. With steady progress and clearance from his medical team, Zarco will travel to Aragon with the intention of racing again, subject to passing the mandatory medical assessment at the circuit.

“Both Johann and the Castrol Honda LCR team are looking forward to being reunited at the Aragon Grand Prix and continuing their work together on track,” the statement read, as reported by Crash.net.
Despite his early return, Zarco will still need to serve a double long lap penalty for causing the Catalunya incident in his next grand prix. During his absence, LCR called up Cal Crutchlow for six stand-in appearances.
Zarco, who won the 2023 Australian MotoGP for Pramac Ducati and last year's French MotoGP for LCR, is already confirmed to stay with Lucio Cecchinello's team next season. However, the identity of his 2027 teammate remains unconfirmed.
HRC has yet to decide whether current LCR rider Diogo Moreira or new rookie signing David Alonso will join Fabio Quartararo at the factory team for the start of the new 850cc era.
