Hot news hits the MotoGP paddock: Yamaha is reportedly aggressively courting Fabiano Sterlacchini, Aprilia's Technical Director and the mastermind behind the RS-GP's sharp performance. The rumor was floated by former MotoGP rider Marco Melandri on his personal podcast. He claimed Yamaha is very serious and aggressive in persuading Sterlacchini to move to Iwata.
“Yamaha will do anything to win. Constantly being at the back in MotoGP is clearly meaningless for them,” Melandri said on Ciacchere da Box. If true, this is a strong signal of how frustrated Yamaha is with the YZR-M1 still lagging far behind in the standings.
The contrast between Aprilia and Yamaha was stark after the Aragon round. Jorge Martin tops the rider standings, while Yamaha's best rider, Fabio Quartararo, is stranded in 15th with a massive points deficit. This situation forces Yamaha to think extra hard to recover.
