Yamaha Officially Pulls Out of Qatar MotoGP Due to Middle East Crisis

In a bold and unprecedented move, Yamaha has officially announced its withdrawal from the upcoming MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix at the Lusail International Circuit, sitting out with both its factory squad and the Pramac satellite team.

The Japanese manufacturer decided to skip the trip to Doha in strict adherence to recommendations issued by the Japanese government, which strongly advises against non-essential travel to the Middle East amid ongoing geopolitical instability and armed conflict in the region.

"Following the most recent assessment of the situation in the Middle East, Yamaha has found no sufficient grounds to modify the travel restrictions currently in place at the corporate level," the manufacturer stated in an official release.

"Consequently, Yamaha has communicated to MotoGP its decision not to participate in the 2026 Qatar Grand Prix," the statement continued, adding that the brand remains fully committed to the championship and looks forward to returning to action at the Portuguese Grand Prix.

While championship organizers and Liberty Media have reportedly threatened severe sporting and financial sanctions against any team failing to show up in Lusail, Yamaha's defiance highlights growing tension between safety protocols and commercial commitments in high-stakes motorsport championships.
