The paddock atmosphere at the Sepang circuit was dominated by intense off-track drama as MotoGP faced a major crisis regarding the upcoming flyaway rounds.
In a surprising official statement released on Sunday, Yamaha announced its decision to skip the upcoming race weekend at the Lusail International Circuit following internal safety evaluations regarding travel restrictions to the Middle East.
"Following our latest assessment of the situation in the Middle East, Yamaha has found no sufficient grounds to modify company-wide travel restrictions," the factory stated, as reported by Motosan.es.

Championship organizers were swift to issue a stern response, emphasizing that extensive security guarantees had been thoroughly evaluated alongside independent risk assessors and local authorities.
"MotoGP regrets Yamaha's decision not to participate in the Qatar Grand Prix. While we recognize the team is subject to broader corporate travel policies, we do not believe this reflects the comprehensive guarantees provided to all stakeholders," the official statement read.
With Carlos Ezpeleta having previously inspected the venue facilities to ensure seamless operations, the rest of the grid has confirmed full participation, leaving the FIM to review potential sporting and contractual implications for the absent manufacturer.
