The WorldSBK rider market is heading for a major overhaul in 2027. Reports from Italy suggest Xavi Vierge has agreed a deal with the Barni Spark Racing Team, opening the door for several big names from MotoGP while threatening the careers of Alvaro Bautista and Danilo Petrucci.
Vierge, currently riding for Pata Maxus Yamaha, is reportedly set to join Marco Barnabo's Ducati squad for next season. This move is hardly surprising. Although Yamaha offered him a contract extension, speculation about Jack Miller taking his seat made him reconsider. As a result, he opted for Barni, the team Bautista now calls home.
Bautista and Petrucci's Fate
Vierge's decision is a heavy blow for Bautista. The 41-year-old hoped to stay with Barni, but now faces the prospect of losing his seat. With no clear alternatives, his glittering WorldSBK career—featuring two world titles—could end this season.

Petrucci faces a similar predicament. His seat at ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team is reportedly destined for Brad Binder, who is moving down from MotoGP. Petrucci had hoped to return to Barni, but with Vierge seemingly signing, his future in the championship is now uncertain.
MotoGP Invasion
Besides Binder, names like Jack Miller, Franco Morbidelli, and Alex Rins are also linked with WorldSBK. If true, this would be a massive reshuffle, as they come from the premier class with a wealth of experience. Next season's competition is set to be even more intense with a mix of young talent and seasoned veterans.
The impact is not only felt by riders but also by teams and manufacturers. Yamaha must find a replacement for Vierge, while BMW and Ducati compete for top services. With the rider market still open, more surprises could follow.
