Superbike fans witnessed another masterclass performance as Nicolo Bulega successfully converted his pole position into a dominant and authoritative victory during Race 1 of the WorldSBK championship at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto.
Starting from the front of the grid for the 20-lap encounter, the Italian rider immediately established a relentless pace that none of his competitors could match, pulling out a gap of nearly two seconds over the chasing pack within the opening three laps.
Further down the field, Alvaro Bautista delivered a stellar recovery drive after starting from tenth on the grid, fighting his way through traffic to ultimately secure a commendable fourth-place finish at the checkered flag.

Technical drama added tension to the race when Xavi Vierge suffered a sudden engine failure with smoke billowing from his machine, forcing a premature retirement while running inside a strong points-paying position. Miguel Oliveira also encountered technical gremlins, adding to the list of high-profile dropouts.
As the race entered its closing stages, Bulega expertly managed his tyre wear and gap at the front to seal the victory comfortably, ahead of Sam Lowes in second place and Iker Lecuona who rounded out the podium in third.
