A proper wet weather qualifying session at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace Interlagos was always going to produce some colossal performances alongside outings that teams and drivers would rather forget. The chaotic session showcased the ultimate spectrum of Formula 1, featuring everything from heroic triumphs to devastating missteps under intense pressure.
Among the frustrated figures, George Russell simmered with intense anger after aborting what he firmly believed would have been a pole-position lap. Telemetry data suggested he might have been contained by Alex Albon's Williams in the final sector anyway, and a five-place grid penalty meant pole was out of reach regardless. Still, being arguably the fastest driver on track only to settle for a seventh-place start felt like a bitter pill for the Mercedes charger.
On the winning side, Lando Norris secured his third consecutive Interlagos pole position, cementing his status as the man to beat in damp conditions. Despite the tricky handling characteristics of his McLaren challenger, Norris dominated Q1 and delivered when it mattered most in Q3 to outpace the chasing pack.

Meanwhile, local hero Gabriel Bortoleto endured another nightmare home qualifying session for Audi. A seemingly minor brush with the barrier at Juncao unexpectedly broke his rear wing, dumping him out in 22nd place.
"Right now it feels like shit, what can I say? Last year I had a crash, this year I couldn't do qualifying properly because I messed up," Bortoleto admitted candidly after his early exit.
