Mercedes clinching the 2026 Formula 1 constructors’ championship with its first podium-less race of the season summed up a wild Brazilian Grand Prix at Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace Interlagos, where a mixed-up grid and constantly changing weather teamed up to create unforgettable drama.
Lando Norris emerged as the ultimate winner, rating this triumph as one of his absolute best. After losing the lead at the start and getting muscled out by Liam Lawson early on, the McLaren driver clawed back a five-second deficit to Kimi Antonelli. A brilliant strategic call to switch to slick tires a lap earlier than Mercedes allowed Norris to capitalize on Antonelli's subsequent errors.
Despite Mercedes celebrating its long-awaited constructors' crown, Antonelli endured a difficult afternoon. The newly crowned world champion spun away the race lead and slipped down to fifth place. Team principal Toto Wolff later noted that an un-diagnosed set-up or tire pressure miscue likely triggered the balance issues that derailed his race.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen put on a masterclass to finish second after starting from 21st on the grid. Despite a poor start and handling complaints regarding suspected aero loss during his middle stint, the Red Bull star fought through the field with remarkable pace once switching back to intermediate tires.
On the other hand, George Russell salvaged fourth place for Mercedes. Although he boasted strong race pace on the soft compound, the overall weekend highlighted areas for improvement as the Silver Arrows celebrate their monumental team achievement.
