Luke Browning has been handed another significant opportunity by the Grove-based outfit to drive an F1 machinery during official practice sessions of the 2026 season. The young British talent will take part in the FP1 sessions at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City and at Interlagos in Brazil, underscoring the team's strong commitment to nurturing rising stars through their academy program.
This strategic move demonstrates that Williams is going well beyond the mandatory minimum requirement of four rookie Friday sessions per season. By stepping into the car in Mexico and Brazil, the British driver will further solidify his Formula 1 experience, continuing a comprehensive development path that began with his debut.
According to the team's run plan, Browning will take over the FW48 from Alex Albon during the opening practice session in Mexico. Subsequently, Carlos Sainz will hand over his cockpit to the young charger during the race weekend at Interlagos in Brazil.

Expressing his gratitude for the continuous support, the young driver stated, 'I am happy to be back behind the wheel of the FW48 and grateful to Williams for entrusting me with all four rookie FP1 sessions this year.' He emphasized that every single lap helps him understand the aerodynamic package better and provide useful telemetry back to the factory.
Williams Sporting Director Sven Smeets praised the driver's ongoing value to the squad, highlighting his diligent simulator work and on-track execution as vital components for improving correlation between factory data and real-world track performance throughout the 2026 campaign.
