The tension is reaching fever pitch in the Supercars paddock as Waters prepares to launch a maximum-attack strategy for Sunday's crucial racing action. The Tickford Racing charger secured a hard-fought third place in the semi-final opener, keeping his championship Grand Final aspirations alive and well.

Sitting just a single point below the cut-line in the standings, the star driver understands that simply outscoring rivals such as Broc Feeney and Chaz Mostert on points is the primary mathematical objective. Alternatively, securing a race victory on Sunday would automatically guarantee him a direct ticket to the title decider.

"It is just full attack tomorrow and I think we are probably better on the soft tyre as well, which is good," Waters stated regarding his tactical approach. "I will just go there and throw everything at it and either we will be in or we will be on a tilt tray."

Saturday's gruelling 250-kilometre encounter proved to be an absolute thriller, featuring intense wheel-to-wheel battles at the front of the field. Starting from the front row, he maintained strong pace throughout the opening stint before fierce pit stop strategies shook up the provisional podium order.

A brilliant sequence of pit stops elevated him to the lead at the start of the final stint, before an epic wheel-to-wheel duel unfolded at Dandenong Road against Brodie Kostecki. Despite battling fading pace in the closing laps and surviving a late-race bump from competitors at Turn 4, he successfully defended his position to salvage valuable championship points.

"I haven't seen it and I didn't know how far up he was," Waters commented regarding the late-race contact. "It's hard to know where he got me but apparently it was quite in the back, behind the rear wheel. So he probably did the right thing redressing and we played on, which was cool."

Entering Sunday needing a strong upward trajectory for the second consecutive year, the team feels significantly more confident thanks to underlying car speed that was missing during previous outings at the venue.
