Big news from Valentino Rossi's camp! Fermin Aldeguer has been officially confirmed to join the VR46 Ducati team for the 2027 MotoGP season. The announcement adds another twist to the early rider market moves that are already shaking up the paddock.
Aldeguer, who is set to make his comeback this weekend at Aragon after a back injury, will switch from Gresini to VR46. The young Spaniard's move marks the end of his stint with the team that gave him his premier-class debut, and it immediately fuels speculation about team line-ups for the coming years.
Last season, Aldeguer turned heads by winning the Indonesian Grand Prix as a rookie. However, his second premier-class campaign got off to a nightmare start when he broke his femur during a training session in January. Despite a podium return in Catalunya, he was injured again at Assen, forcing him to sit out several rounds.

Notably, Aldeguer is one of only two riders on a GP25-spec Desmosedici this season, alongside VR46's Franco Morbidelli. This highlights how highly Ducati rates his talent. Moving to VR46 could provide him with a more supportive environment to continue his development.
The announcement came via a video titled 'The Perfect Candidate', suggesting that VR46 sees Aldeguer as the ideal fit for their project. In 2027, Aldeguer will be joined by WorldSBK championship leader Nicolo Bulega, forming an exciting new line-up for the new 850cc/Pirelli regulations.
Meanwhile, Catalunya winner Fabio di Giannantonio is already confirmed to move to the factory KTM team, alongside Alex Marquez, who is currently Aldeguer's team-mate at Gresini. This domino effect has made the rider market more intriguing than ever.
As for Franco Morbidelli, his future at VR46 remains uncertain. Reports suggest he could head to WorldSBK, potentially replacing Bulega at the official Aruba.it Ducati team. If that happens, VR46's MotoGP project will feature an all-new, youthful line-up ready to make a statement.
