When the lights went green at Sepang, Max Verstappen immediately asserted his absolute dominance during qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix. The star driver for Red Bull topped every single session of the weekend so far, delivering a stellar 1m35.130s lap to secure pole position on Formula 1's historic return to Malaysia.
The battle for the front row went down to the wire in Q3. Despite failing to improve his personal best through the opening two sectors on his final flying lap, the Dutch ace unleashed a blistering final sector to snatch the 49th pole of his illustrious career under intense pressure from the chasing pack.

Sharing the front row with the polesitter will be Lewis Hamilton, who put his Ferrari machine into second place. The veteran world champion edged out Isack Hadjar, who suffered a subsequent grid penalty for an internal combustion engine change that reshuffled the order right behind the leaders.

Further down the top ten, championship leader Kimi Antonelli faced a compromised afternoon after having his initial Q2 lap deleted for track limits. The resulting strategy scramble forced the Mercedes youngster to burn an extra set of soft tires, ultimately restricting him to fourth on the timesheets before grid penalties altered the provisional starting lineup.
