The Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix has been red-flagged on lap three after Max Verstappen suffered a massive crash in damp conditions at Zandvoort. The Red Bull driver lost control at the final corner on the opening lap and slammed hard into the concrete barriers.
Verstappen immediately confirmed he was okay over team radio, but his car sustained substantial damage. Other drivers managed to avoid Verstappen as he slewed back across the track, though Gabriel Bortoleto spun while avoiding debris.
Heavy rain had hit the circuit 45 minutes before the start, but conditions dried enough for the field to start on slicks. The changing conditions proved decisive in an incident that ended Verstappen's hopes in his final home race.

Under the red flag, the top ten order is Lando Norris, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, George Russell, Charles Leclerc, Oscar Piastri, Lewis Hamilton, Liam Lawson, Arvid Lindblad, Pierre Gasly, and Franco Colapinto. Norris retained the lead from pole, while Russell lost out to Mercedes teammate Antonelli.
Leclerc made a fast start to pass Hamilton, who banged wheels with Verstappen. The seven-time world champion also lost out to Piastri. The final F1 race at Zandvoort thus ended in disappointment for Verstappen and his fans.
