Toyota Set for WRC Title Party in Chile, Kankkunen Gives Clear Order

Toyota is gearing up for a manufacturers' title celebration in Chile this week. Leading Hyundai by 173 points, the squad only needs a handful of points to clinch the crown. Realistically, it would take something extraordinary for Hyundai to deny them.

The drivers' championship, however, remains finely poised. Elfyn Evans holds a 20-point advantage over teammate Sami Pajari, setting up a tense intra-team battle as the season winds down.

Juha Kankkunen, Toyota's team principal, has a clear directive for his drivers. "The manufacturers' title is close now and we have pretty strong chances to secure that, while the drivers' championship is getting more exciting as we near the end of the season, and we will keep giving all our crews the same chances to win," he stated.

Reflecting on the team's preparations, Kankkunen added, "After an eventful rally in Paraguay, we're looking forward to continuing this South American adventure in Chile. Our team has been hard at work this week to rebuild the cars so that they are like new again for Chile."

Punctures played a significant role in Paraguay, but the Chilean roads should be more forgiving on paper. Yet Kankkunen remains cautious. "On paper, Chile can be a more straightforward rally with fast and flowing roads that the drivers enjoy, but we know that the weather there can still bring some surprises," he warned.
