Toyota has firmly denied rumours linking Esteban Ocon to a World Endurance Championship seat with the Japanese manufacturer for the 2027 season. The speculation arose after Haas officially announced that it would part ways with the French driver at the end of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
The news was first reported by Motorsport.com, citing Toyota advisor Alexander Wurz. Speaking to Formel1.de's YouTube channel, Wurz stated, "There's nothing to these rumours." This statement dismisses any suggestion that Ocon will switch to endurance racing with Toyota.
Wurz explained that Toyota plans relatively far ahead for its Le Mans and WEC programmes. Currently, Toyota has six drivers under long-term contracts, and there are no plans to change that line-up. "We have long-term contracts, and our line-up for next year is 100% full," he said.

Furthermore, Wurz highlighted the importance of harmony within the team. He emphasised that bringing in an outside driver without considering team dynamics could disrupt the balance built since 2012. "When you put three alpha personalities in one car, it takes time for them to accept each other, find the right set-up, and work well together. That's one of Toyota's strengths: we have a team structure and culture that can't be changed overnight," he explained.
Toyota currently competes in WEC with two cars. One is driven by Mike Conway, Nyck de Vries, and Kamui Kobayashi, while the other features Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, and Ryo Hirakawa. This line-up recently secured victory at their home race in Fuji, with Hirakawa delivering a stellar performance in the decisive stint.
With this denial, Ocon's Formula 1 future becomes increasingly uncertain. Aston Martin has confirmed it will retain Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, leaving Cadillac as Ocon's only realistic option in F1. However, no confirmation has been made regarding that seat.
The rumour linking Ocon to Toyota had emerged because he is seen as a talented driver who could strengthen an endurance team. But with Toyota's firm statement, it appears the door to WEC is not open for Ocon, at least for 2027.
Toyota's decision to keep its current line-up demonstrates its commitment to stability and continuity. It also signals that Toyota will not rush into driver decisions, especially with major targets like Le Mans and the WEC championship.
For Ocon, the challenge of finding a competitive race seat for 2027 is mounting. He must quickly determine his next move, whether in F1 or elsewhere, if he wishes to remain at the highest level of motorsport.
