MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Johann Zarco of LCR Honda topped a disrupted Practice session at the 2026 Brazilian Grand Prix, as Toprak Razgatlioglu secured a breakthrough Q2 appearance and Marco Bezzecchi dropped into Q1.
Light rain began falling just moments before the session at the Ayrton Senna Circuit in Goiania, triggering an immediate rush to the track. Riders were able to complete approximately 30 minutes of effective dry running before conditions deteriorated, preventing further improvements in lap times.
Zarco’s early benchmark of 1m21.257s, set within the opening 10 minutes, ultimately remained unbeaten. He finished 0.125 seconds clear of reigning world champion Marc Marquez on the factory Ducati, while Pramac Yamaha rookie Razgatlioglu delivered a standout lap of 1m21.565s to secure third place and direct passage into Q2.
The result represents a significant milestone for Razgatlioglu in his rookie MotoGP campaign, particularly given the complexity of mixed conditions that demand precise control of grip levels, tyre temperature, and throttle application.
The most notable setback of the session came for Bezzecchi, the Thai Grand Prix winner, who struggled to extract performance from his Aprilia in the evolving conditions. He finished 20th, forcing him into Q1 for Saturday’s qualifying.
Track evolution played a decisive role throughout the session, with the top position changing hands multiple times between riders including Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez before Zarco consolidated his advantage.
Turn 4 proved particularly challenging in the early stages, catching out multiple riders. Brad Binder of KTM was the first to crash, followed shortly by Jack Miller and LCR Honda’s Diogo Moreira at the same corner. These incidents disrupted their sessions and ultimately cost them potential Q2 positions.
Behind the leading trio, Martin secured fourth place as the top Aprilia rider, while championship leader Pedro Acosta finished fifth for KTM. Alex Marquez ensured a Q2 spot in sixth for Gresini Racing, with Fabio Quartararo placing his Yamaha in seventh.
Fermin Aldeguer secured a Q2 berth on his first race weekend of the season, while Francesco Bagnaia finished ninth on the second factory Ducati. The final Q2 position was claimed by Ai Ogura for Trackhouse Aprilia.
Outside the top 10, Luca Marini narrowly missed progression in 11th, while both VR46 Racing Team riders struggled. Franco Morbidelli ended 18th after stopping on track due to a fuel issue, with Fabio di Giannantonio 19th.
Aprilia’s difficulties extended beyond Bezzecchi, as Raul Fernandez finished 21st. Meanwhile, Enea Bastianini endured an extreme session on his Tech3 KTM, ending over 4.7 seconds off the pace and not classified in the official standings.
Given the unstable conditions, the Practice results offer only a partial indication of competitive order. However, performances from riders such as Zarco and Razgatlioglu highlight strong adaptability that could prove decisive in qualifying and race conditions.
MotoGP action in Brazil now progresses to qualifying, where weather variability is expected to remain a critical factor ahead of the Grand Prix that will further define the early championship trajectory.
