A major blow hits the Yamaha garage as Toprak Razgatlioglu is officially ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 world championship season. The Turkish star must undergo corrective surgery following a severe shoulder dislocation sustained during practice sessions ahead of the Indonesian Grand Prix. This tough decision comes after detailed medical assessments confirmed that the physical damage to his shoulder is far more complex than initially diagnosed.
Faced with a five-round absence, the team has turned to trusted test rider Augusto Fernandez to step into the vacant seat for the final stretch of the year. Bringing in an experienced competitor ensures vital data collection and ongoing development momentum can continue uninterrupted while the primary rider focuses entirely on his rehabilitation process.
The former Superbike dominator admitted deep disappointment over missing out on racing at Phillip Island, a venue holding countless fond memories from his earlier career. Deciding to skip the remaining races was far from easy, but consultations with leading medical professionals solidified that surgery offers the only viable pathway toward a complete one-hundred-percent physical recovery.
In an official statement, the sidelined rider shared his gratitude for the unwavering support from his inner circle and medical team during this challenging transitional period. He also extended warm wishes to his teammate for the upcoming home event, hoping for a memorable weekend in front of the passionate local fans before the season concludes.
The premier class paddock will undoubtedly miss his vibrant presence on the grid for the final showdowns of the year. Observers and fans alike will now monitor his recovery closely, anticipating a strong and fully healthy return when the winter testing period commences ahead of the next championship challenge.
