MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Toprak Razgatlioglu endured a difficult Sprint race at the 2026 Brazilian MotoGP in Goiania, finishing last alongside his Pramac Racing team-mate Jack Miller. Both riders struggled with the Yamaha V4 package, particularly with grip limitations and overall bike balance throughout the race.
The result stood in contrast to Fabio Quartararo, who secured sixth place, marking Yamaha’s strongest Sprint performance to date with the same machinery. One of the key differences was tyre selection, as Razgatlioglu and Miller opted for the medium rear tyre, while the majority of the grid selected the soft compound. However, issues extended beyond rear grip, with both riders also reporting difficulties with the hard front tyre used across the field.
Razgatlioglu lost significant ground at the start. After lining up 12th thanks to direct access to Qualifying 2, he dropped to 21st due to a launch issue.

“Today was very difficult, and honestly quite frustrating because some of the issues we faced were not easy to understand,” Razgatlioglu said.
“At the start I had a similar problem to Thailand, but even more pronounced. When I released the clutch, it felt like I was losing power, which compromised my launch and immediately put me at the back.”
He added that recovering positions proved extremely challenging due to persistent grip issues and instability at the front of the bike, even on the straights.
“We struggled again with grip, and even on the straights I had a lot of movement from the front, which made it hard to ride with confidence. Compared to yesterday, when the feeling was much better, it seems like we took a step back.”
Meanwhile, Miller, who started 18th, initially ran ahead of his team-mate but encountered similar problems related to understeer and balance. He was eventually overtaken again by Razgatlioglu before both riders were passed by Franco Morbidelli and Enea Bastianini, leaving the Pramac duo at the back of the field.
“From the start, it was a bit of a struggle,” Miller said.
“The main issue was a strong understeer, and overall the balance of the bike wasn’t quite where we needed it to be. The feeling with the front tyre was not ideal, and when I tried to push, it felt like it was starting to lock.”
Pramac team director Gino Borsoi acknowledged the race as particularly difficult, highlighting combined front and rear grip limitations as well as tyre strategy.
“It was clearly a very difficult race for us. Toprak didn’t have a good start, and we need to understand exactly what happened there. Both riders reported a lack of grip, not only at the rear but also at the front, and that is something we need to analyse carefully,” Borsoi stated.
“The tyre choice was made with a view to tomorrow’s race, but in hindsight the medium was not the ideal option for these conditions. Perhaps with the soft we could have managed slightly better, but it is unlikely it would have changed the overall picture significantly.”
In addition to grip and balance issues, Yamaha continues to face a deficit in top speed. Razgatlioglu recorded the lowest top speed at 337.5 km/h, compared to 348.3 km/h achieved by Marc Marquez on the Ducati.
This gap underlines that beyond chassis balance and tyre performance, engine output remains an area requiring further development. Data collected during the Sprint is expected to play a key role in technical analysis ahead of the main race.
Miller indicated that a potential wet race could offer short-term relief, although the team remains focused on improving competitiveness in dry conditions.
“The forecast suggests there could be rain, and that might help in the short term. But our goal remains to be competitive in all conditions, especially in the dry,” Miller said.
Following a challenging Sprint, Pramac Racing will concentrate on data analysis and setup adjustments, targeting improvements in grip, balance, and launch performance ahead of the Brazilian MotoGP race.
