A major blow has struck the Prima Pramac Yamaha squad as Toprak Razgatlioglu is forced to miss the remainder of the 2026 MotoGP season following a severe shoulder injury. The high-impact crash suffered during the Indonesian Grand Prix at the Mandalika Circuit has left the Turkish star with physical damage that strictly requires surgical intervention.
Following comprehensive medical evaluations in Milan on Monday, October 21st, specialists confirmed that the trauma sustained during the bike-lifting incident is far more critical than initially diagnosed. The upcoming surgery is officially scheduled for Monday, October 26th, in Milan, prioritizing a safe and complete recovery for the premier class rookie.
With the devastating sidelined news confirmed, Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez has been tapped to step in and pilot the factory-backed machine for the upcoming rounds. This forces Toprak to miss the highly anticipated trip to Phillip Island for the Australian Grand Prix, a venue he holds very close to his heart from his WorldSBK days.

Reflecting on the tough reality, the championship contender admitted the gravity of his physical setback. "Mi lesion en el hombro es mas grave de lo que pensabamos en un principio," stated Toprak, emphasizing that undergoing surgery is the absolute right path for his long-term racing future after consulting medical experts.
Before turning his full focus to rehabilitation, he spared a moment to encourage his teammate ahead of an emotional home grand prix weekend. "Tambien me gustaria desearle a Jack todo lo mejor para su Gran Premio de casa. Correr ante tu publico siempre es especial," he concluded, promising to cheer for the entire garage from afar.
