The European motocross landscape is set for a major shake-up as the newly formed ERC Kawasaki squad prepares a formidable campaign. Led by team principal Uwe Reinhardt, the outfit has captured significant attention by securing two standout German riders to spearhead their official assault on the upcoming 2026 racing season, marking a major comeback for the Japanese manufacturer into the highly competitive ADAC MX Masters.
According to initial reports and social media teasers showcasing the team's machinery, Tom Koch makes a high-profile switch from Sarholz KTM, carrying the iconic number 226. Armed with factory-backed support, Koch is widely regarded as one of the prime championship favorites heading into the new year. He will be joined by fellow countryman Paul Haberland, carrying the number 491, who previously competed under the MX-Academy Honda Racing by Meuwissen Motorsports banner.
While comprehensive official press releases were still pending at the time of the initial announcements, visual confirmations of the bikes made it clear that a major restructuring was underway. Uwe Reinhardt, whose Equipe Reinhardt Competition has roots extending back to endurance road racing in 2016 and subsequent ventures into the Endurance World Championship with BMW, brings a wealth of tactical discipline to the dirt track environment. Alongside their primary focus on the German Masters series, conversations are reportedly ongoing regarding selective FIM Motocross World Championship rounds and grueling beach races in the FIM Sand Races World Championship.

The evolution of the ERC structure—which notably absorbed parts of the NRT48 setup back in 2018—demonstrates the ambition of Reinhardt, who also serves as managing director of the Karlsruhe-based robotics firm ProKASRO. His extensive background competing in demanding 24-hour motorcycle endurance events translates directly into the meticulous preparation required to keep a top-tier motocross operation running at peak efficiency through grueling championship weekends.
As the starting gates drop for the upcoming rounds, all eyes will be fixed on how quickly Koch and Haberland can adapt to their new machinery and translate winter testing progress into race-winning speed. The return of Kawasaki to the forefront of the ADAC paddock injects fresh excitement into the championship chase, promising intense wheel-to-wheel battles in every single heat.
