Ducati Lenovo Team Manager Davide Tardozzi has expressed fierce frustration regarding the ongoing controversies surrounding the upcoming round at the Losail International Circuit. Uncertainty initially clouded the MotoGP calendar due to geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East, though series promoters ultimately confirmed the event would proceed as scheduled.
Intense debates unexpectedly targeted Marc Marquez after critics accused the Spanish superstar of spearheading opposition against traveling to Qatar. Responding directly to the wave of misplaced backlash aimed at his marquee rider, the seasoned Italian factory boss stepped forward to set the record straight.
Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, Tardozzi voiced deep irritation over the contrasting behavior exhibited by rival competitors who voice strong opinions behind closed doors but remain completely silent during official safety commission meetings with championship organizers.
“Regarding Marc, he is simply the most charismatic person, so many riders outside express opinions even much stronger than Marc’s,” Tardozzi stated, as reported by Motosan.es. “Then, when they arrive at a meeting before the organizer, they stay silent. And this is a bit like that, it has no major importance.”
Elaborating further on the matter, Tardozzi emphasized that Marquez never refused to race in the Middle East, but rather championed reasonable safety protocols, emergency evacuation strategies, and firm organizational guarantees amid delicate regional conditions.
“He has been smart enough to say: let’s try to mediate the matter, raise situations that guarantee us an evacuation, a plan B, that all conditions are met so that we can race safely. That is what he asked for, but there have been many others who said worse things, yet did not have the courage to repeat them before the organizer,” he concluded.
