Supercars has officially confirmed a crackdown on the spectacular kerb-hopping vision that has frequently gone viral worldwide, following a comprehensive safety review conducted alongside Motorsport Australia.

Concerns regarding the extreme nature of the kerb strikes raised last year triggered a joint technical review aimed at aligning the temporary street circuit with modern motorsport safety regulations.

To address these safety issues, the category will revert to utilizing a strategic mix of tyre bundles and electronic kerb hop sensors at the famous chicane, moving away from a pure reliance on large, ramp-style inner kerbs.

"Bundles will be placed just over two metres from the lip of the kerb, significantly further from the track edge than tyre bundles in previous years," noted the official championship bulletin.

Furthermore, an electronic kerb hop loop will be installed at Turn 10, alongside provisions allowing for the potential addition of a third tyre bundle if deemed necessary during practice sessions.

The circuit updates are carefully engineered to force cars to decelerate on approach through the corner, while still allowing drivers to aggressively attack the apex kerbs.

Organizers firmly believe the alterations guarantee full compliance with the strict track licensing requirements while preserving the core entertainment value for motorsport fans.

Supercars motorsport boss Tim Edwards emphasized that the finalized layout will still deliver the thrilling kerb-riding visuals fans expect.

"The installation of tyre bundles at the beach chicane is a requirement in order for the circuit to meet its safety standards," Edwards stated.

"That said, we have worked closely with Motorsport Australia on a solution and believe we've struck a fair balance where there is minimal compromise of entertainment for fans watching at-track and on TV."
