Stefano Domenicali Joins Silverstone Lego Parade

Stefano Domenicali and Mohammed Ben Sulayem are reportedly set to take part in the drivers' Lego minicar parade sequence ahead of the 2026 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

The parade format follows the Lego car parade concept used at the 2025 Miami GP. For Silverstone, each of the 22 drivers has been given an individual minicar built from around 28,000 bricks.

According to RacingNews365, Domenicali and Ben Sulayem will each drive a minicar to the starting grid before the official parade lap. However, they are not expected to take part in the main parade with the drivers.

Under that plan, the drivers will already be assembled in the FIA garage before the two senior figures bring the cars to the grid. That places the parade element within the pre-race build-up rather than changing any competitive format of the Silverstone weekend.

The drivers have not been unanimous in their reaction to the minicar parade. Lewis Hamilton reportedly voiced doubt over whether he could participate shortly after the plan was announced, while Max Verstappen was more openly critical of the spectacle.

"F1 did not need the spectacle of drivers not looking like kids and clowns trying to ram into each other," Verstappen said.

The Lego parade at Silverstone underlines how Formula 1 continues to expand entertainment elements around the main race product. However, the reaction from some drivers shows that the balance between spectacle, sporting identity and competitive focus remains a sensitive issue before the Grand Prix start.
