The highly anticipated debut of the iconic fortwo successor has finally arrived, with Massimiliano Carli, CEO of Smart Italy, unveiling marketing strategies, official pricing lists, and an ambitious launch lineup. The arrival of this latest urban electric vehicle instantly captured global automotive attention following its world premiere in Paris.
“Devo dire – racconta sorridendo Massimiliano Carli, nuovo CEO di smart Italia – che le prime ore sono state un successo clamoroso. Sono abbastanza ottimista nella vita, ma non mi sarei mai aspettato di raccogliere 500 ordini in cosi poco tempo. Abbiamo superato il cinquecentesimo ordine in 48 ore,” stated Carli, highlighting the extraordinary enthusiasm from consumers who snapped up the compact electric car in record time.
In an exclusive interview via FormulaPassion, it was revealed that the entry-level model starts at 19,990 euros including VAT with a rich array of standard features. The Plus Premium mid-range variant is priced around 24,500 euros, while the limited Gold Edition, restricted to just 1,000 units, goes for approximately 25,500 euros. The high-performance variant tuned by Brabus is also confirmed to feature a 36 kWh battery pack and rapid DC charging capabilities.
From a design perspective, the manufacturer retains the legendary fortwo DNA but with more mature lines and the signature tight turning radius expected from a city car. The removal of the conventional transmission lever from the center console now makes way for a steering column shifter, providing cabin flexibility and premium comfort reminiscent of Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
“Abbiamo rispettato il carline della fortwo: sterzata corta come la precedente, design riconoscibile. Internamente non ha nulla da invidiare a una sorella gemella Mercedes: comfort incredibile,” added the CEO, emphasizing the exceptional interior quality offered in this new generation.
