The Formula 1 sprint race at the Marina Bay Circuit was marred by a dramatic final-lap collision between McLaren teammates. Lando Norris made contact with Oscar Piastri at Turn 5 while the duo were battling for fourth and fifth positions, with Piastri leading the intra-team fight.
The heavy impact forced Oscar Piastri into retirement, making him one of the nine drivers who failed to finish the 20-lap sprint encounter. Meanwhile, Lando Norris managed to get his car rolling again and crossed the finish line in eighth place, salvaging a single championship point for the Woking-based squad.
Following the chequered flag, Lando Norris faced an immediate investigation by the FIA and was summoned to report to the race stewards ahead of the qualifying session. Speaking to the media, the British driver preferred to reserve definitive judgment until the team analyzed the telemetry and video data.

"I'd rather just go back and review it," Lando Norris told Sky Sports. When asked directly if the overtaking move was on, he responded, "It was... I apologize to them that one of the cars is out, but like I said, the rest of it we'll go review."
On the opposing side of the McLaren garage, Oscar Piastri showed more concern over the massive repair workload handed to the mechanics than the collision itself. The Australian driver admitted he had not yet reviewed the footage properly and downplayed the position dispute.
"I've not seen it properly. I mean, from where I sit, it's fourth and fifth for a sprint race, so not that bothered either way," Oscar Piastri admitted. "Just obviously it's a lot of work now for the team to get both cars fixed, so, just a shame for the team."
Due to earlier weather-related delays prior to the start of the sprint race, subsequent schedule adjustments provided the McLaren crew with a much-needed window to repair both cars. These operational delays ultimately granted the engineers adequate time to ready the chassis for the crucial Grand Prix qualifying session.
