Sebastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia are in good condition following their crash at WRC Finland 2026, although Toyota has confirmed both will remain in hospital overnight for observation.
Ogier and Ingrassia crashed on SS17 Västilä 2 when their Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 left the road at high speed. The crew activated the SOS button, prompting organisers to stop the special stage immediately.
Reassuring news arrived around 15 minutes after the incident when both Ogier and Ingrassia were confirmed to have exited the car without assistance. They were subsequently taken to hospital for further examinations, with Ogier transported by helicopter and Ingrassia by ambulance.
“We are pleased to report that the results of the hospital examinations for both Seb and Julien have been positive. Due to the heavy impact during the accident, the crew will remain in hospital under observation overnight,” Toyota said in a statement on Saturday evening.
Toyota also thanked the medical teams and fans for their support. The update was the most important development following an incident that ended Ogier’s bid for a third Rally Finland victory while he held a lead of more than 20 seconds over Sami Pajari.
Juha Kankkunen had earlier said Toyota would investigate the cause because the nature of the accident appeared unusual. The team has not reached any conclusion and intends to examine several possibilities, including technical factors and the interaction between the car and the road surface.
Toyota’s immediate focus remains on monitoring Ogier and Ingrassia overnight while the car will be investigated to understand the cause of the accident before WRC Finland 2026 moves into its final two special stages on Sunday.
