Scott McLaughlin capped off the 2026 IndyCar season with a dominant victory at Laguna Seca. Starting from pole, the Kiwi led every lap and never faced a serious challenge, maintaining a comfortable gap despite the slippery track and dirty air that kept the field close.

The win was McLaughlin's first of the season and the eighth of his IndyCar career. It also secured sixth place in the final standings. After the race, he celebrated with donuts in front of the fans who packed the hillsides, enjoying the moment with his Chevrolet engine that would no longer be needed.

Behind him, Kyle Kirkwood delivered an impressive drive, moving from sixth to second in the opening stint. His car was only matched by McLaughlin's, and he held the position with relative ease. The sixth podium of his season locked up second place in the championship for the Andretti driver.

Alexander Rossi finished third, securing his first podium since joining Ed Carpenter Racing last year. Rossi admitted the season had been frustrating, but he hopes this result will set the right direction for 2027. Meanwhile, Felix Rosenqvist produced the best overtake of the afternoon when he passed David Malukas at Turn 2 late in the race to take fourth.

Rosenqvist, sporting a special Nickelback livery, gave Meyer Shank Racing a satisfying send-off before moving to Arrow McLaren next season. Malukas finished fifth, consistent throughout, and ended the year as the highest-placed Team Penske driver in fifth overall.

Christian Lundgaard used a clever undercut on the first pit stop cycle to jump from 11th to sixth, finishing ahead of Marcus Armstrong in seventh. Alex Palou, who had already wrapped up the championship last weekend, still showed competitive pace despite having nothing to fight for.
