Sami Pajari arrives at Rally Chile on the back of an impressive winning streak. Three consecutive victories in Estonia, Finland, and Paraguay have brought him within just 20 points of championship leader and team-mate Elfyn Evans in the WRC title fight.

“We have been on a really nice run lately and I hope Rally Chile can be good for us as well,” Pajari said. “It is a rally I know quite well now, as I’ve done it twice already in the Rally1 car, and it’s one of my favourites because of the profile of the stages.”

Punctures played a major part in Paraguay, but that should be less of a concern in Chile, although surprises are still possible. For Pajari, the main goal is to cut into Evans’s lead again.

The Finnish driver compares the Chilean roads to those of his home event: fast and flowing, with nice camber that helps carry speed through corners. However, high tyre wear and rapidly changing weather can make it challenging.

“Like in Paraguay, the fans are very passionate and I’m looking forward to it,” he added.

Rally Chile kicks off with Shakedown on Thursday afternoon Finnish time. Competitive stages begin on Friday, featuring 16 stages covering around 311 kilometres.
