The intense gravel pressure of Sardinia shifted dramatically as Roope Korhonen seized control of the class lead during Saturday morning's stages. Starting the day just 2.2 seconds behind overnight leader Gus Greensmith, the Finnish driver immediately struck back on the opening test.
This surge marked a welcome turnaround from Friday's frustrations, where thick dust and severely rough road surfaces heavily hampered his visibility and rhythm behind the wheel.
With Saturday's roads proving wider, faster, and better suited to his driving style, Korhonen capitalized on his growing understanding of the car's setup. His advantage briefly stretched to 15 seconds before settling at 8.9 seconds midway through the day's six scheduled stages.

Navigating through the intricate, rock-strewn technical sections required an unforgiving balancing act between outright pace and mechanical preservation, ensuring tyres and suspension survived the brutal terrain.
"As soon as you start being a little cautious, you immediately lose time," Korhonen explained, highlighting the razor-thin margin for error as crews prepared to tackle the afternoon loop.
