The transition from the Grand Prix paddock to the production-based world championship has not been a straightforward fairytale for Remy Gardner. Securing ninth place in his rookie campaign remains his best overall championship finish, while managing only two podium appearances across 134 superbike races despite having factory machinery at his disposal with the Yamaha squad.
Reflecting on the previous campaign, the Australian rider endured a difficult year plagued by a lack of raw competitiveness from the R1 machine, ultimately halving his points tally from the prior season and finishing down in sixteenth place overall. This sobering reality has triggered an intensive introspection period within the garage as the team attempts to diagnose their shortcomings and rebuild their competitive edge.
Heading into his fifth consecutive year with the Giansanti Racing structure, though facing an expiring contract at the end of the upcoming campaign, Gardner is banking on internal shake-ups to inject fresh momentum into his garage. The arrival of a new crew chief, widely reported to be former Barni Ducati technician Luca Minelli, aims to steer the technical direction with renewed authority.

A monumental task ahead for the team is mastering the crucial transition to Michelin tyres, a mechanical shift that is bound to shuffle the competitive hierarchy in the upcoming championship rounds. A planned two-day private winter test in Valencia serves as the ultimate litmus test for the squad to ensure their package meshes seamlessly with the new rubber before the competitive lights go out.
"The season was truly tough and did not pan out the way I, Yamaha, or the team had envisioned at all," Gardner shared with the official championship website. "We will analyze everything thoroughly and try to find a way to improve. From a riding perspective, we need to make important decisions, and I think the opening meetings could offer us a golden opportunity while everyone else is still busy figuring out the new situation."
