Raul Fernandez suffered a finger fracture following a controversial collision with Marco Bezzecchi during the Mandalika Sprint Race. The Trackhouse Racing rider ended his Saturday in deep frustration after securing pole position and heading into the race as a clear favorite.
Both Aprilia machines ended up in the gravel trap at the very first corner, destroying any hopes of a strong finish. Beyond the wrecked machine, the Spanish rider sustained a small fracture to the index finger of his right hand. Speaking to DAZN after the race, his anger was palpable.
Right now I am a bit numb. Because I think the fury and rage inside me hurts more than what is actually wrong with my hand, Fernandez began. On my hand, one of the fingers is broken, I have a small fissure. Tomorrow I will try to test it in the Warm-Up, because I have been given the fit to race, but I do not know if I will actually be able to ride, he explained.

While acknowledging that racing incidents are part of the sport, Fernandez drew a hard line regarding the intent behind the maneuver that took him out of contention.
For me, the worst thing to bear is the frustration of knowing that Marco did something on purpose that he should not have done. The consequence of crashing can happen, perfectly fine, and we will get up and that is it. But I think it is very ugly that we arrive at a braking zone, knowing that we are both on Aprilias, he stated.
He further criticized his rival for compromising their team manufacturer's overall position in the race. And he only focused on pushing me off the curbing during braking, and left the door open for two Ducatis. I feel very sorry for my team, I feel very sorry for Aprilia, and I do not think what he did is professional, concluded Fernandez.
