Crash on Saturday, win on Sunday. That was the contrasting weekend for Raul Fernandez at Silverstone. The Trackhouse rider put in a dominant display at the British Grand Prix to claim his first win of the season, leading an Aprilia podium lockout.
Starting from second, Fernandez stormed into the lead at lights out after polesitter Jorge Martin lost positions due to a stuck rear ride-height device. His teammate, Marco Bezzecchi, briefly held second but couldn't match Fernandez, who built a one-second lead by the end of the opening lap.
Fernandez's advantage grew to three seconds in the first quarter of the race. Behind him, Bezzecchi and Martin battled fiercely for second. Martin eventually got past his teammate on lap nine, but by then Fernandez was already 4.5 seconds ahead. Although Martin managed to close the gap to 3.5 seconds, Fernandez was never threatened, cruising to his second career victory.

Championship Implications
This victory not only showcased Fernandez's impressive form but also tightened the championship fight. Jorge Martin, finishing second, now holds a 31-point lead over his nearest rival. Marco Bezzecchi, battling through pain from his Sachsering injuries, held on to the final podium spot after fending off a late charge from Alex Marquez.
Alex Marquez briefly passed Bezzecchi on lap nine but dropped to sixth after a huge scare at Copse. He recovered to close in again, but Bezzecchi's solid defense meant he had to settle for fourth. Fabio di Giannantonio also impressed, passing Marc Marquez late on to secure sixth.
The race was a test of survival, with only 16 of 23 riders finishing. Ai Ogura, who had been impressive all season, crashed on lap nine and lost third in the standings. Francesco Bagnaia also failed to finish after a tough weekend, while home hero Cal Crutchlow retired in front of his own fans.
With this result, the championship battle is heating up. Fernandez is back in winning form, while Martin continues to lead comfortably. Can Aprilia maintain their dominance for the rest of the season? We'll have to wait and see.
