Rally Estonia director Urmo Aava has openly criticized the controversial scheduling decision made within the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar. This sudden arrangement has created massive logistical hurdles for event organizers while drawing significant scrutiny from passionate rally fans worldwide who follow the championship closely.

Despite admitting that the current situation is far from ideal, Urmo Aava acknowledged that he understands the underlying reasons behind the decision. Both the championship promoter and motorsport's governing body, the FIA, hold the ultimate authority in drafting and formally approving the annual motorsport calendar.

"We hope the plan works. We have certain concerns, but I believe we can resolve them," Urmo Aava stated during an interview with Estonia's public broadcaster, highlighting the severe scheduling complexities that both organizing committees must now navigate under immense pressure.

According to the Estonian director, the single greatest challenge revolves around tight scheduling constraints and rigorous transport logistics. The minimal turnaround time between back-to-back events demands extraordinary effort from mechanics, team personnel, and logistical coordinators.

"The main concern is the lack of time. One rally has to be completed, everything must be packed up quickly, and just a few days later the service park has to be ready in Jyvaskyla," Urmo Aava explained, emphasizing the brutal physical demands placed on everyone involved.

Furthermore, Urmo Aava noted that both event organizers would have strongly preferred maintaining the traditional two-week break between the consecutive rounds to ensure a much smoother experience for spectators, competing drivers, and factory teams alike.

"Rallies have been held one week apart before, but it puts the organizers of both events and everyone else involved under considerable pressure," Urmo Aava concluded, pointing out the persistent structural challenges within the championship framework.
