Thierry Neuville suffered a massive crash on SS7 of Rally Chile BioBio when his Hyundai i20 N rolled 8.3km into the stage. Neuville and co-driver Martijn Wydaeghe were unharmed, but the car was too damaged to continue. He will not restart on Sunday, dealing a significant blow to Hyundai's championship hopes.
The drama wasn't isolated. Josh McErlean picked up left rear tyre damage in the same stage, losing 46.1 seconds and dropping to eighth overall. Later, Nikolay Gryazin rolled his Lancia Ypsilon HF 9.9km into the stage after clipping a bank. A small under-bonnet fire was quickly extinguished, but Gryazin was out.
In SS8, Jon Armstrong rolled 11.7km into the stage. The Irishman nursed his car to the finish but his day was over. "We just completely understeered and hit a bank and rolled. I don't know what to do anymore as I tried to be careful. It is very difficult at the moment," he said. Armstrong hoped to continue but the damage was too severe.

Amid the chaos, Oliver Solberg and Elliot Edmondson continue to lead Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin. Sebastien Ogier briefly took third from Adrien Fourmaux, but the French Hyundai driver reclaimed the position on the final stage of the morning loop. The battle at the front is intensifying.
In WRC2, Yohan Rossel inherited the lead after his teammate retired. This presents a golden opportunity for Rossel to extend his advantage, though pressure from rivals remains. Meanwhile, Takamoto Katsuta also retired with technical issues, adding to the list of casualties.
With so many incidents, Rally Chile BioBio has become one of the most challenging rounds of the season. Teams must regroup and strategise for the remainder of the event. The rough terrain and unpredictable weather are key factors behind the numerous crashes.
Neuville's retirement costs him valuable points, while Solberg has a chance to extend his lead. Evans and Ogier will push hard, and Fourmaux must watch his back. The fight in Chile is far from over, and more drama is expected before the finish.
