Quinn de Joode has become the fourth Dutch rider to receive an invitation to the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup Selection Event. Earlier, Luuk de Vries, Milan Hunneman, and Mick Koomen were confirmed for the event at Circuito de Guadix, Spain, from 5-7 October. De Joode's addition further strengthens the Dutch presence at the selection.
For De Joode, the invitation caps a remarkable period of rapid progress. The 15-year-old only began training on a full-size circuit at the end of July after securing sponsor support. With his license in hand and two bikes at his disposal, he then made a wildcard appearance in the ADAC Junior Cup at TT Circuit Assen.
At that point, De Joode had only about five hours of experience on the NSF250R. Despite that, he immediately broke into the top ten, competing against six riders who were also wildcards from the Moto4 Northern Cup. That performance was a clear sign of his potential.
Not long after, De Joode secured the Yamaha 125 Cup title. With six race wins, he didn't even need to compete in the seventh and final round to clinch the championship. The achievement underlined his quality as one of the standout young talents.
Following his title, De Joode earned another international opportunity. This time, he joined the Moto4 Northern Cup as a wildcard at the British Superbike event at TT Circuit Assen. In tricky conditions during the first race, he finished third and stepped onto the podium, proving his ability to adapt quickly to tougher competition.
Just two days after that podium, more good news arrived: an invitation to the Rookies Cup selection. Team De Joode had entered with the mindset that 'nothing ventured, nothing gained,' and that entry has now paid off with a chance to shine in Guadix.
Ahead of the selection, De Joode is keeping expectations low. He aims to enjoy the experience, gain as much knowledge as possible, and showcase his best development to the selection committee. The Rookies Cup selection runs for three days and evaluates not only speed but also progression, approach, and potential.
With four Dutch riders taking part, the 2027 Rookies Cup selection in Guadix will be a proving ground for the Netherlands' young generation. De Joode and his compatriots will look to make every lap count and prove they deserve a place on the MotoGP stage of the future.
