Poland Rally Legend may only be three years old, but its reputation is already spreading like wildfire. At a time when the World Rally Championship is striving to expand its fanbase, this event offers something refreshing: a genuine celebration of rallying, with passionate fans, legendary drivers, and an unforgettable atmosphere.
Imagine standing in the middle of a roaring crowd, eyes fixed on high-powered rally cars. That's exactly what happened when Matias Henkola unleashed his 900bhp Audi. From inside the car, I could feel the raw energy. Fans lined every corner, every crest, and every service area. Rallying, it seems, can still pull a crowd.
From Dolnoslaski Rajd Legend to Poland Rally Legend
The name Poland Rally Legend may not be as famous as Rallylegend in San Marino or the Eifel Rallye Festival. However, this event has a compelling story. Originally called Dolnoslaski Rajd Legend, it first ran in 2024. Unfortunately, entries were sparse. Nevertheless, the reception from spectators and competitors was overwhelmingly positive.
To attract more competitors, the event was renamed Poland Rally Legend. According to Michał Majewski, director assistant for spectator safety and a member of the organizing committee, the name change aimed to give the event international status. The result was astounding. Entry numbers surged from 84 cars in 2025 to 140 cars in 2026. "We want to build this event in our own way," Majewski told DirtFish.
The presence of top drivers like Marcus Gronholm, Bruno Thiry, Armin Schwarz, and Patrick Snijers further underscores the event's quality. Not to mention Poland's most decorated active driver, Kajetan Kajetanowicz, also joined the fray. They all came to celebrate rallying, not just to compete.
A Unique and Engaging Format
Poland Rally Legend offers a unique format. It's not just a classic car show; it's a real competition. Recce, a press conference, and a spectacular ceremonial start on Thursday kicked things off. Friday featured three stages, followed by nine more on Saturday. Everything is designed to provide maximum experience for spectators and participants.
Unlike Rallylegend, which is more of a carnival, Poland Rally Legend emphasizes competition while maintaining a relaxed vibe. "We don't want to compete with Rallylegend," Majewski stressed. "They are the pioneer. We only take some ideas, but we build this event with our own identity."
Michał Majewski himself is a true rally fan. Together with his colleagues, he is determined to create an annual rally festival that everyone can enjoy. "Many of us had visited San Marino as spectators, and I even competed there as a co-driver. We felt Polish fans and drivers deserved a similar event," he recalled.
Given the enthusiasm, it's not impossible that Poland Rally Legend will become one of the most anticipated rally events in Europe. Majewski even dreams that one day there will be four or five similar events in a year. "Is it a good idea? I don't know. Will it ever come to life? I don't know either. But it's always worth dreaming," he concluded.
One thing is clear: Poland Rally Legend has proven that rallying never loses its charm. This event is proof that when fans, drivers, and organizers come together, rallying can be an extraordinary spectacle.
