Pierre Gasly has openly questioned the consistency of Formula 1 race control regarding intra-team collisions following the dramatic Sprint Race incident involving Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri at the Singapore Grand Prix. The French driver expressed clear frustration over the lack of penalties, which directly cost him a potential championship point.
The controversial clash occurred on the final lap of the Sprint Race when Norris lunged down the inside of his teammate. With insufficient space to complete the maneuver cleanly, the two cars collided, sending both spinning down the order. Despite the severity of the contact, the FIA stewards ultimately decided to take no further action against Norris after reviewing the incident following the qualifying session.
Reacting to the decision, Gasly did not hide his disappointment while speaking to media representatives. He joked that he would have inherited a point if the penalty had been applied as expected. While acknowledging that drivers should ideally avoid crashing into their garage neighbors, he stressed that the overarching concern lies within the unpredictable standards set by the officiating panel.
The Alpine driver further highlighted recent discrepancies by referencing previous controversial incidents from the Baku Grand Prix weekend. He pointed out that similar wheel-to-wheel clashes often yield vastly different outcomes depending on external factors or whether other competitors were actively compromised during the skirmish.
Looking ahead, Gasly is determined to channel his focus toward the main Grand Prix. Having secured a strong eighth-place starting position on the grid, the experienced competitor remains in prime contention to battle for crucial championship points under the lights of Marina Bay.
