Pedro Acosta is finally a MotoGP winner. The KTM rider claimed a hard-fought victory at the Austrian Grand Prix, holding off Jorge Martin in a tense 28-lap race. The win ends KTM's drought dating back to 2022 and marks Acosta's first grand prix victory since his Moto2 days in 2023.

Acosta's path to victory was anything but smooth. He crashed out of the lead in Saturday's sprint and suffered another spill in warm-up. But on Sunday, he showed no signs of repeating those mistakes, riding with composure beyond his years.

Martin finished second, 1.017 seconds adrift, after resisting late pressure from Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi. Bezzecchi crossed the line just 0.192s behind Martin, with Ai Ogura a further 0.930s back in fourth.

Marc Marquez endured a challenging race on the factory Ducati. Starting fourth, he ran off track at Turn 1 on lap 10 and had to fight his way past Fermin Aldeguer and Brad Binder to salvage fifth. He now trails Martin by 12 points in the standings, having finished 7.3s behind the winner.

The race began with Martin converting pole into the holeshot ahead of Bezzecchi, while Ogura passed Marquez for third at Turn 2. Bezzecchi briefly took the lead on lap 2 at Turn 1, but Martin retaliated at the same spot next time around. Acosta, meanwhile, carved his way to third and dispatched Bezzecchi for second on lap 4.

The KTM rider then set his sights on Martin, and the two nearly touched at Turn 5 on lap 8 when the Aprilia ran wide. Acosta seized the lead on the exit of Turn 1 with a superior drive. Martin kept the gap between 0.6-0.8s for most of the remaining laps, but Acosta held on to take a memorable maiden win.

Behind the podium, Binder was sixth, with Pecco Bagnaia seventh. Aldeguer dropped to eighth due to a late penalty for contact, while Fabio Di Giannantonio and Johann Zarco completed the top 10. Enea Bastianini was 11th, followed by Raul Fernandez, Takaaki Nakagami, Luca Marini, and Diogo Moreira in the points. Fabio Quartararo faded to 17th, and Alex Marquez was the only crasher.
