Pedro Acosta laid down a marker at the Red Bull Ring. The KTM rider topped both practice sessions for the 2026 Austrian MotoGP on Friday, signaling his intent to close his chapter with the Austrian manufacturer by winning at their home race.
In the second practice, Pedro Acosta set the benchmark with a 1m28.381s, edging out Fermin Aldeguer of BK8 Gresini Ducati by 0.127s. Ai Ogura impressed in third for Trackhouse Aprilia, marking his return from a hand injury that sidelined him for the previous two rounds.
Behind them, Marc Marquez had to settle for fourth, just 0.204s adrift, with Jorge Martin close behind in fifth. Fabio Di Giannantonio completed the trio of GP26 Ducatis inside the Q2 places in sixth for VR46, while Alex Marquez was eighth despite a late crash that brought out the red flags.
Brad Binder made it two KTMs in the top ten in seventh, while Marco Bezzecchi was ninth on the factory Aprilia, and Fabio Quartararo completed the Q2 list in tenth for Monster Yamaha.
However, the spotlight also fell on Pecco Bagnaia. The Ducati Lenovo rider will have to go through Q1 for the fifth consecutive weekend after finishing only 18th in FP2. This is a significant blow for Bagnaia, who has historically been a dominant force at the Red Bull Ring.
