A grueling and frustrating day on track unfolded for Pecco Bagnaia at the Sepang International Circuit as he struggled with severe rear tire degradation and a complete lack of feeling with his machine. The Asian round turned into a major headache for the Italian rider after a promising start vanished when dry asphalt chewed up his rear rubber in just three laps.
Detailing the sudden performance drop during the opening phase of the race, Bagnaia described the nightmare he endured with his tires. According to statements gathered by collaborator Manuel Pecino, his rear tire was completely gone after three laps despite a strong initial getaway, forcing him to push braking limits before rain arrived to offer a welcome relief.
The extreme tire degradation has left the garage deeply concerned ahead of the full-length Sunday race. With high temperatures expected and no rain forecast, the team acknowledges the massive challenge they face in managing tire life over a double-distance Grand Prix.

Despite the severe issues, Bagnaia praised his initial launch off the line, noting that the clutch behavior and engine performance at Sepang allowed him to execute strong acceleration and a hard opening braking zone similar to his previous outing in Japan.
Addressing his visible anger and high-tension moments on the prototype, Bagnaia offered a harsh self-assessment. He admitted that looking at the telemetry data made him feel entirely unrecognisable in his riding style, fueling intense frustration when trying to push past the limits and finding that the front end simply refused to stop properly into the opening corners.
