Pascal Wehrlein Wins Wet Formula E Shanghai Race

Pascal Wehrlein converted pole position into victory in the opening race of the 2026 Shanghai E-Prix double-header. The Porsche driver controlled the wet conditions at Shanghai International Circuit to strengthen his challenge in the Formula E title fight.

The victory had a major championship impact, reducing Mitch Evans’ advantage to just three points. Evans started from second but slipped to eighth after a difficult race in wet conditions, losing significant ground to Wehrlein in the standings.

Antonio Felix da Costa finished second for Jaguar, giving the team an important result despite Evans’ points loss. Jake Dennis completed the podium for Andretti after another composed performance in changing race conditions.

Andretti also placed Felipe Drugovich fourth, creating a strong three-four result for the team. Nyck de Vries finished fifth for Mahindra, ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne and Joel Eriksson.

The result increases pressure at the top of the championship. Wehrlein not only maximised pole position but also fully capitalised on Evans’ drop down the order, shifting title momentum back towards Porsche.

Evans still remains in the championship lead, but a three-point margin makes the second Shanghai race highly significant. With weather again capable of influencing strategy, energy management, attack-mode timing and tyre control will be central to the next phase of the title battle.
