Oliver Solberg Opens Up on Injury, Turns to Finnish Recovery Methods for Paraguay

Oliver Solberg injured his back on the penultimate special stage at Rally Finland after a heavy landing from one of the jumps. The Swede was still able to finish the rally, although he struggled with significant back pain during the closing Power Stage.

After the event, photos circulated on social media showing Solberg needing support while walking. The Toyota driver has now reassured fans in a post on his Instagram Stories.

“I had scans after Sunday’s Power Stage and, thankfully, everything was okay,” Solberg wrote. The examinations revealed no serious injuries. According to Solberg, he suffered a heavy impact rather than any structural damage.

The 24-year-old has already begun his recovery programme to be back to full fitness for the next round of the World Rally Championship. “Now it’s all about recovering with laser therapy, visits to the chiropractor and plenty of time in the sauna,” he explained.

“The goal is simple: to be ready and jumping normally again in Paraguay.” Solberg finished second at Rally Finland and remains fourth in the championship standings with 156 points, trailing leader and Toyota team-mate Elfyn Evans by 45 points.

The WRC season resumes at the end of August with Rally Paraguay. The championship then moves on to Chile in September and Sardinia in October. The season finale is scheduled for Saudi Arabia in November, though there is currently uncertainty over whether that event will go ahead.
