Lando Norris believes he is performing better both on and off the track in Formula 1 this year compared to his title-winning 2025 campaign, fresh off back-to-back victories for McLaren.
The defending world champion has taken pole and victory in the last two rounds in Hungary and Zandvoort, giving his title defence a much-needed boost. Despite sitting fourth in the standings, 83 points behind leader Kimi Antonelli, Norris feels his personal performance levels are higher than during his championship season.
"I was driving at a high level the second half of last year," Norris said. "It's tough to say [if I'm driving at my highest level], but I do think it's a trickier car to drive this year in some ways."
He highlighted the overnight work between the sprint race and the grand prix at Zandvoort as a prime example of his off-track improvements. After a disappointing sprint, Norris and his McLaren engineers found gains that transformed their race and led to victory.
Norris acknowledged the gap to Kimi Antonelli in the standings but remains confident in his own development. "I'm certainly eliminating my weaknesses on track," he added.
