Reigning Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris has officially extended his contract with McLaren until at least the end of the 2030 season. The deal secures the British driver's future with the team for over a decade since joining its junior programme in 2017.
McLaren's announcement also revealed a "multi-year option to commit beyond" 2030, leaving the door open for an even longer partnership. With this new contract, Norris further cements his status as one of the team's key pillars, while already holding the record for the most starts by any McLaren driver.
This agreement puts Norris on par with rivals Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen, who are both signed through 2030—the planned end of the current engine rules cycle, unless an earlier switch to V8s is agreed for 2030.
"McLaren is my home, and I'm very pleased to be signing a new contract to keep me with the team until at least 2030," said Norris. "When I started this journey nine years ago, I was clear about the goals I wanted to achieve: to get McLaren back to the front and to win championships. We've achieved that goal, but we want more."
Team principal Andrea Stella described Norris as an "integral" part of McLaren's success, calling him a "special human" and "exceptional driver." McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown added that Norris's journey with the team is a "fantastic example" of their commitment to nurturing world-class talent.
As part of the deal, Norris will be gifted an MCL39 car from his 2025 title-winning year, a "lasting reminder of his contribution to the team." Norris's previous contract was the soonest to expire among McLaren's key figures, with teammate Oscar Piastri committed until 2028.
