Norris Confident in Vital McLaren Resolution Ahead of Singapore GP

Heading into the race weekend at the Marina Bay street circuit, Lando Norris arrives with renewed confidence. The British driver has expressed his strong belief that the Woking-based squad has made significant progress in addressing various technical hurdles that hindered their performance during the previous rounds of the Formula 1 season.

The current campaign has certainly not been entirely smooth sailing for the reigning world champion. After dominating the tracks for the better part of last season, McLaren has faced mixed results under the new technical regulations. Despite these setbacks, determined efforts have still yielded two Grand Prix victories along with three additional podiums, even though the MCL40 car has frequently struggled to find optimal pace over both single-lap qualifying and long race stints.

Speaking during the official FIA press conference ahead of the race weekend, Norris did not shy away from discussing the in-depth evaluation conducted alongside the team's engineers. This evaluation included a comprehensive analysis of previous races, including straight-line speed issues and the characteristics of rough asphalt surfaces that previously complicated tire management for the papaya squad.

"There was a fair few learnings both from my side, from us as a team from like what happened in the race, but also just general things from a car point of view and what we need to do a better job in, and how can we get back to the same level as we were in the previous few – Budapest, Zandvoort, Madrid," Norris told journalists.

He further emphasized that all team members have been working tirelessly back at the factory to dissect the existing technical issues. The biggest challenge at present is figuring out how to unlock the hidden potential of the aerodynamic package and chassis to become competitive at the front once again against their main rivals.

"The team have been working very hard. We’ve all worked very hard to understand what we could learn from last weekend, what we can and need to do better in. The exact things, the specifics of it, I don’t need to go into, but there was a good amount," he added.

Facing the challenges of the Marina Bay street circuit, the unique track layout is expected to be more favorable to the characteristics of the MCL40. With a positive track record in previous years at this venue, this weekend in Southeast Asia is seen as a crucial moment to prove the team's performance resurgence.
