MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Buriram once again ignites the MotoGP season in 2026, with the Chang International Circuit hosting a high-stakes opening round that sets the tone for the championship battle ahead.
Thursday’s media day (26/2) provided the first competitive atmosphere of the year, as riders addressed the press following pre-season testing. The spotlight naturally fell on reigning world champion Marc Marquez, who arrives in Thailand as a leading contender but acknowledges the competition is already intense.
“There are riders who are faster than me at the moment. We are still chasing some small details to be fully ready.”

Attention also turns to two rookies making their MotoGP debut this weekend: Toprak Razgatlioglu and Diogo Moreira. Both highlighted the distinct demands of the premier class, particularly in managing aerodynamics, tyre degradation and braking stability along Buriram’s long straights and heavy stop zones.
At Aprilia Racing, Jorge Martin confirmed his determination to return competitively after nearly a year disrupted by injury. While still rebuilding full race-specific fitness on the RS-GP, Martin aims to be immediately competitive from the opening round.
Pre-season data from Buriram indicated a tightly packed field, with Ducati, Aprilia, KTM and Honda demonstrating competitive pace in race simulations. Yamaha continues refining its V4 package, making Thailand a critical early benchmark for technical progression in 2026.

The MotoGP Thailand 2026 gallery captures defining moments from the paddock and pit lane: focused rider expressions, detailed engineering discussions inside garages, and close-up views of the latest aerodynamic developments that will shape performance over the 22-round season. The intense Thai heat is also expected to influence tyre management strategies, adding another variable to the opening contest.
The season opener is not merely about outright lap time, but about establishing consistency and strategic direction for the months ahead. Buriram provides the first true competitive reference point as the 2026 MotoGP campaign officially begins.
