MotoGP Riders Adopt Conciliatory Tone Ahead of Lusail Weekend

The MotoGP paddock at Lusail International Circuit was initially shrouded in speculation and tension following regional geopolitical concerns. However, as the championship's leading stars arrived in Doha for the upcoming Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar, any anticipated rider resistance dissolved into a remarkably friendly and cooperative atmosphere.

Following late arrivals and a period of uncertainty compounded by Yamaha's withdrawal, the opening media day on Thursday provided a platform for riders to address the situation directly. Rather than escalating friction with series organizers, top contenders chose to adopt a pragmatic and positive approach as they fulfilled their media obligations in the Gulf nation.

Factory Ducati star Francesco Bagnaia candidly admitted that he felt apprehensive prior to touching down in Doha, but emphasized his complete trust in the governing bodies and local authorities to prioritize safety above all else.

"It is true that I was a bit worried," Bagnaia stated. "I cannot hide my feelings about arriving here. But I decided to fully trust Dorna, the organizers, IRTA, and the government. I think they are all working for our safety. They have provided us with almost everything we asked for."

The Italian rider added that the paddock environment quickly dispelled his initial worries, noting that operations felt entirely normal once he settled into the team's garage.

"We need to work together. It is better to work together. I think it is the correct thing," Pecco explained. "I was expecting that the atmosphere in the paddock would feel normal. I feel that we do not need to be afraid of a bombardment here. The only fear we can have is that they close the airport."

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing sensation Pedro Acosta echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing trust in the organizational framework and professional duty toward the sport.

"If the organizers decided at the time to come here, I understand it was because everything was under control," Acosta remarked. "The arrival here was normal. Everything was looking quite normal."

The young Spaniard also pointed out the psychological impact of sensationalized media headlines while reinforcing his commitment to the championship and his factory team.

"I understand that if you start to read all the media, maybe you can get quite afraid of everything. But in the end, we have to do what our contractual obligations say. And also, we have to be professional with the championship, with the team, and with the brand," Acosta concluded.
