The race weekend at the Mandalika International Street Circuit provided a fascinating chapter in the ongoing MotoGP world championship battle, particularly after Marc Marquez secured a vital victory during the Sprint race. Despite facing predictions of a heavily demanding weekend on Indonesian soil, the Borgo Panigale manufacturer successfully minimized their points damage through calculated resilience and standout performances.
Prior to the event, the Ducati camp was well aware that the circuit layout historically did not favor their machinery, whereas their main rival Aprilia arrived as the absolute favorite. However, racing dynamics often deliver unexpected twists. On Saturday, the Noale factory faltered due to on-track incidents and front tire pressure issues, allowing Marquez to capitalize with a brilliant Sprint win.
Sunday's Grand Prix brought a different set of challenges as the eight-time world champion fought hard to secure a sixth-place finish. Remarkably, this marked the very first time he successfully crossed the finish line in a Sunday race at this venue. Combined with Saturday's triumph, this result ensured that the championship gap remained entirely intact despite the difficult circumstances.

Reflecting on the weekend, Ducati Corse General Manager Gigi Dall’Igna praised the team's ability to cope under intense pressure. According to Speedweek, Dall'Igna shared his thoughts on LinkedIn. «We limited the damage with pure skill and experience on a track we knew would be tough—perhaps our most difficult and definitely one that favored our opponents,» stated Dall'Igna.
Dall'Igna also reserved high praise for Marquez's exceptional racing intelligence when dealing with an inferior machine setup. «This weekend showed so much of Marc's genius: being ready when it matters most to snatch an unexpected first place, and showing the astuteness to master critical moments when the bike is not the strongest,» he added.
Having successfully navigated one of the toughest hurdles of the season unscathed, the red squad now feels stronger and better prepared for the upcoming rounds. Technical evaluations are already underway to maintain peak performance across the remaining calendar.
