When Formula 1 entered the turbo-hybrid era back in 2014, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team executed a masterclass in engineering. That breakthrough sparked an unprecedented streak of eight consecutive constructors' world titles, alongside drivers' championships secured by Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. Although subsequent ground-effect aerodynamic regulations shifted the competitive order toward rival outfits, the fresh 2026 technical regulations swung momentum right back to the Silver Arrows during a dominant first half of the season.
Fast forward to the current race weekend at Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, and the Brackley-based squad stands on the verge of claiming their ninth constructors' crown in motorsport history. Having triumphed in 12 out of the 19 Grands Prix held so far this season, their grip on the championship summit remains ironclad. Only Ferrari mathematically retains a slim chance to disrupt the coronation, though a massive 126-point deficit makes the Italian team's bid an uphill battle.
With multiple permutation variants ahead of Sunday's showdown, the arithmetic required to wrap up the title in Interlagos is straightforward in execution. Simply put, Mercedes will clinch the constructors' championship if both of their cars finish inside the points and ahead of the two Ferrari challengers. A dominant 1-2 finish, or a victory paired with third and fourth places, would immediately seal the championship outcome without needing to look at subsequent rounds.

Should the red cars fail to score any points due to a scoreless outing or retirement from the top ten, both factory drivers would only need a top-eight finish to officially seal the deal. The team's engineers have worked tirelessly to optimize straight-line efficiency and high-speed cornering stability to cope with the undulating nature of the iconic Brazilian circuit layout.
As the tension builds up ahead of the race start, the focus within the garage remains razor-sharp on tyre degradation management and maximizing braking zones. Closing out the title fight this weekend would allow the team to transition smoothly into the final triple-header stretch of the 2026 calendar with championship glory already secured.
